KEW GARDENS, QUEENS — A Kew Gardens high school has been named the best in New York State, and the 12th best nationally, according to a new ranking by U.S. News and World Report.
The annual report, which compares high schools at the national, state, and local level, ranked Townsend Harris High School first in the New York list of best high schools, and 12th best nationally.
The high school was one of two in Queens to make it to New York’s top 10, which was entirely made up of New York City public schools. Queens High School for the Sciences at York College in Jamaica ranked number four on the state list, and 30th nationally.
The Baccalaureate School for Global Education in Long Island City also made it on the national top 100 list, according to the report.
AJR are slated to perform at Forest Hills Stadium on the evening of May 21, 2022.
FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — The only New York City venue on AJR’s upcoming 2022 tour is Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, the group announced on Sunday.
The indie pop trio’s OK ORCHESTRA Tour will run from April 28 to June 21, with over 25 stops around the country, including one performance on the evening of May 21 in Queens, according to the schedule on their website.
This will be AJR’s first multi-venue tour since 2019, after the group cancelled two tours in 2020 amid the pandemic.
“Due to everything going on, we aren’t able to move forward with the upcoming tours. We’re bummed, but it’s more important to us that you guys are safe,” they Tweeted in May of last year.
The OK ORCHESTRA Tour, named after AJR’s 2021 album by the same name, will feature completely new material, including their highest-ever charting song, “Bang!,” which reached the Billboard Hot 100’s eighth spot in January of this year.
Their stop in New York will be a return home for AJR — a trio of brothers who got their start performing in Washington Square Park and recording music in their New York City apartment, according to ABC News.
Their band name stands for the first initial of each of their names — Adam, Jack, and Ryan Met.
Coincidentally, the day that AJR announced their upcoming tour, mayoral candidate Andrew Yang took to Twitter to admit that the band wrote four of his favorite songs.
An @AJRBrothers moment – when you realize that 4 of the songs you really like are from the same band.

Pre-sale tickets for the OK ORCHESTRA Tour at Forest Hills Stadium are currently on sale today through 10 p.m. EST — you just have to text 917-809-7739 for access to the promo code, according to their Instagram — and tickets will open to the general public at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday April 16.
Over 150,000 people moved out of Queens in 2020, a 10 percent increase from the year before
FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Nearly two times the amount of people moved out of Forest Hills in 2020 compared to 2019, according to a new study by the global real estate firm CBRE.
The study, which looked at 29 million change-of-address requests filed with the U.S. Postal Service last year provided ZIP code-based insights into which neighborhoods across the country saw the most people leave — and where those residents relocated to.
New York City was already shrinking before 2020, and once it became a national epicenter of the pandemic residents began to flee in droves — more people moved out of New York City than almost any other city in the U.S. last year, second only to San Francisco, the study found.
Many of those who moved headed to Sun Belt cities like Austin and Charlotte, which gained new residents according to the study.
Over 150,000 people moved out of Queens in 2020, a 10 percent increase from the year before, the study found. (However, the study doesn’t include ZIP codes with fewer than 10,000 individuals, so data is missing from some of the borough’s neighborhoods.)
