This Forest Hills Private High School Has Been Named #1 In Queens, NYC

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A Forest Hills school was named the best private high school in Queens, according to a newly updated list of the best private schools in New York.

The Kew-Forest School, located on the border of Forest Hills and Kew Gardens, was ranked number 44 on’s ranking of New York’s best private high schools for the 2021-2022 academic year. It is one of four Queens schools that earned a spot in the list’s top 100, and the only one in the borough to crack the list’s top 50.

The title is not new for many of the schools on the list, including the Kew-Forest School, which came in 39th on the school ranking site’s overall list for New York state last year.

Here’s a look at all four of the Queens high schools and their rankings:

As in years past, the Best Private High Schools rankings are “based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents,” according to Niche. Ranking factors include SAT/ACT scores, the quality of colleges that students consider, student-teacher ratio, private school ratings, and more.

The data is sourced from the U.S. Department of Education, Niche users, and the schools directly.

While Queens’ showing on Niche’s list paled in comparison to Manhattan or Brooklyn, the World’s Borough has received accolades for its schools in the past — including its public schools.

In April, Townsend Harris High School in Kew Gardens Hills, was named the best in New York State, and the 12th best nationally according to a U.S. News and World Report list.
