About 43 Greenway Terrace, Forest Hills Gardens,

As one of the most prestigious and architecturally distinctive homes, this perfectly scaled 7 bedroom, 7 bathroom house is positioned on Greenway Terrace at the entrance to Forest Hills Gardens. This stunning Tudor residence was designed in 1920 by renowned American architect Grosvenor Atterbury. Atterbury is most recognized for designing The Metropolitan Museum’s American Wing, the Parish Art Museum, Main Street Southampton, and the Rockefeller Stone Barns.

This Gardens’ home, with its uncompromised architectural integrity and highest standards of interior décor, conveys the utmost charm and warmth. Sunlit and spacious rooms lend themselves to everyday modern living with substantial space for home office and workout rooms, children’s playroom, wine cellar, and indoor and outdoor entertaining.

Aside from its prominent position along the Terrace, a glance beyond the stone, brick and ivy-covered entryway reveals a masterfully designed example of Atterbury’s well respected style. Design elements include 4 original fireplaces, a Butler’s pantry with beautifully restored cabinetry, expansive second floor landing, rear staircase, original leaded glass pane windows, volume ceilings, decorative copper exterior elements, and tapestry brickwork. The rooms with lovely sunlit views overlook the beautiful community open space along Flagpole Green. The house, with its separate 2 car garage and upper studio space, is situated on an estate sized landscaped property.

An integral part of one of America’s oldest planned communities, the home is perfectly located just minutes from Station Square, neighborhood schools, and the well known West Side Tennis Club, which offers professional grade tennis, pool and dining facilities. It is just a few minutes from public transportation including the LIRR, several express and local subway lines, and is convenient to shopping areas and restaurants. It is approximately 15 minutes by rail to Manhattan, in close proximity to highways and both NYC’s major airports, and nearby to Forest Park with horseback riding, golf, and dedicated biking and running paths.

IT’S TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK! HERE ARE THE BEST VIRTUAL GIFT IDEAS

queens homes for sale

Teacher Appreciation Week is here, and it’s no secret that teachers are working harder than ever.

So, since the ways in which they teach their students has certainly changed, here are also a few different ways during Teacher Appreciation Week 2020 to say thank you to all the unsung teacher heroes working “behind the screens” to keep their kids learning.

Trust us when we say just doing one or two of these things for teachers will really brighten their day.

#1: YARD SIGNS

Design and print yard signs to place in teachers’ lawns. Consider using “We Love Our Teachers” or “A Rockstar Teacher Lives Here” for the message. Or, have students make homemade versions. Once the signs are made, organize a group of volunteers to drive around and distribute the signs. But remember to keep your distance and follow local guidelines.

#2: THANK A TEACHER CAR PARADE

When schooling first moved online, we saw many teachers across the country organizing car parades to visit their students from a safe distance. Now, it’s your turn! Gather the neighborhood, make homemade signs and honk your horns loudly to show the nearby teachers how much they are appreciated.

#3: SOCIAL SHOUTOUT

Download one of our Teacher Appreciation Week Applause Cards and participate in the Herff Jones #ThankATeacher social media campaign. Share the card to social and tag a teacher — past or present — who has impacted your life or your child’s life.

Kudo-cards_thank-a-teacher

#4: VIDEO MESSAGE

Kind words go a long way. Help your kids record a brief thank-you message to send to their teachers. Let teachers know their impact and that students miss them and face-to-face classroom time.

#5: E-GIFT CARDS

You can’t go wrong with a gift card, and many stores and restaurants offer digital options. Send it via e-mail with a personalized note of thanks. Bonus points for you if you support a local business!

No matter how big or small you decide to go, just be sure the teachers know you care. In the end, it’s the thought that counts, and a thank you goes a long way.

A Slice of Naples Right Here in Our BackYard

Image result for numero 28

Our beloved neighborhood has been waiting for some exciting new foodie arrivals and this past weekend Numero 28 {in the old The Grill space on Restaurant Row} opened and I dare say, should be called “Numero 1” because it was excellent.

Getting Italian food in New York City is easy … almost a little too easy. Everyone, whether they are Italian or not, has their take on Italian and Italian-American classics ranging from pizzas to chicken parmigiana, to pastas of every shape and sauce. Because Italian red sauce joints are so ubiquitous, standing out and being really good is a challenge. Numero 28 stepped up to this challenge. That they were coming to Forest Hills as an already established restaurant with locations throughout Manhattan and in Brooklyn {as well as in Miami, Austin, and London} had me tentatively optimistic. When it’s not your first rodeo, you know how to run a tight ship. But that can also mean sterile or uninspired. Not so at this new outpost; there was something authentic and honest about the food and ambience. The staff were also so very welcoming as if I was an old friend and we were there to break bread together for the first time in many years.

While pizza is very clearly the feature of their menu, definitely give their appetizers and pasta dishes a try. The Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe was one of the most delicious pastas I have had in a very long time. The sauce is deceptively simple, which makes it a tricky one to perfect. I’ve had cacio e pepe many times, and if it’s not done right, it risks tasting bland or dry. The chef here is from Rome, and I was told he makes this dish the Roman way … which, for the record, is apparently the most delicious way. I was enjoying it so much I spooned every last bit of sauce off the pan long after the spaghetti was gone. The sauce, made of pecorino cheese and reserved pasta water, spiced with flecks of black pepper and tossed to coat perfectly al dente spaghetti was everything I wanted it to be and more.

I tried their namesake pizza {buffalo mozzarella, speck, truffle cream, & mushrooms} and whoa. The truffle cream is the standout here – literally a cream of truffley goodness that melted all over the salty speck and chewy crust. The crust was ever slightly charred and the edges had a crisp but pliable bite. The thinness of the speck made it almost melt in your mouth. The pizzas come in three sizes; I recommend the individual size if you plan to sample other dishes.

For an appetizer, our gracious waiter Marco recommended the Sicilian Rice Balls which were atop a classic marinara sauce. The arancini were nicely crisp on the outside and stuffed with a scrumptious blend of cheese, ground beef, and rice. The tang from the tomato sauce complemented the salty and creamy center of these little pockets of yumminess.

Since I hadn’t eaten any carbs yet {cue the sarcasm}, it seemed only necessary to try one of their homemade desserts. I sampled a chocolate cake with a Nutella mascarpone cream. While I may have had to roll myself home, it was worth every bite and a perfect ending {along with a frothy cappuccino} to a wonderful meal.

Welcome to the block, new friends at Numero 28. I look forward to many more meals with you, next time with some vino. Saluti, and best of luck making Forest Hills your home.
