QUEENS, NY — The Queens Symphony Orchestra’s free concert series returns this month.
The orchestra’s fifth season kicks off May 6 with a patriotic-themed performance in Fort Tilden, one of four free performances this summer.

The Forest Hills street where the co-founder of the band Steely Dan grew up will be co-named in his honor.
The corner of 112th Street and 72nd Drive will be co-named “Walter Becker Way” in October.
Becker, who died last September at the age of 67, was a songwriter, guitarist, bassist and record producer for the band.
He was well-regarded both for co-founding “Steely Dan” with partner Donald Fagen and for his later solo work.
Throughout the 1970s, Steely Dan became famous for its unique blend of jazz, pop and R&B, and a cryptic songwriting style. The band had many popular hits, including “Reelin’ in the Years,” and “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number.” Continue Reading ›
Jazz Thursdays are back in Forest Hills!
The two-part series returns on August 10 with a tribute to Ray Charles by Wayne Homes. Spanglish Fly will return on August 17th. Both concerts being at 7 pm and run until 9:30 pm. The concerts take place on 70th Road between Austin Street & Queens Blvd. and will happen rain or shine!
While watching the show, the Forest Hills Chamber recommends having a meal or drink at one of the restaurants on “Restaurant Row” as most have outdoor café seating.
