CON BRIO ENSEMBLE PRESENTING TWILIGHT CONCERT AT THE CHURCH IN THE GARDENS IN FOREST HILLS
Members of the Con Brio Ensemble will be performing works by Handel, Brahms, Schubert, Shostakovich,and Paganini,on Sunday, January 6, 2019at 4:30 PM at The Church-in-the-Gardens, 50 Ascan Avenue in Forest Hills, NY.
Critically acclaimed violinist, Alexander Meshibovsky, Osceola Davis, coloratura soprano, (please see attached photo), clarinetist, Gary Dranch, and pianist, Diana Mittler-Battipaglia will perform German arias by Handel, Schubert’s The Shepherd on the Rock, and Duos by Shostakovich. The program will also include Brahms-Sonata in G Major opus 78 and variations by Paganini for violin and piano. Alexander Meshibovsky, a student of Heifetz, and clarinetist, Gary Dranch perform internationally as concerto soloists. Osceola Davis has appeared as soloist with the Metropolitan Opera and major European opera houses, Diana Mittler-Battipaglia is Professor of Music and Choral Director at Lehman College-CUNY.
Celebrating its 40th season, the Con Brio Ensemble performs annual series in Queens, and Manhattan, and is currently in residence at Lehman College-CUNY in the Bronx.
Admission to the concert will be $12.00 ($10.00 for students and senior citizens)

Would you like to get fresh food from local farms? The Forest Hills CSA is a community group who get weekly deliveries at the church of fresh vegetables, fruit and other products (such as eggs, meats, grains, beans, honey, maple syrup and more) from NYS farms. French Sing-Along at Church in the Gardens
On April 16th at 10 am at 50 Ascan Avenue, Forest Hills children are encouraged to join in a French sing-along! This class at The Church-in-the-Gardens is a great way for young kids to get immersed in the French language through songs and stories. Classes are accompanied by a professional pianist and taught by Valentine, a French jazz singer, who is leading several French sing-alongs throughout the city in schools, daycares, music schools, private groups and birthday parties.

POTLUCK MOVIE NIGHT AT THE CHURCH IN THE GARDENS
The evening will begin in the Lounge with a delicious POT LUCK dinner which is notably strong on desserts. Please RSVP to Helen Howey (718-268-9142) to let her know what food you will be bringing to share. Your dish should be enough for six to eight servings. New members are especially welcome!
The Case for Christ is a 2017 American Christian drama film directed by Jon Gunn and written by Brian Bird. It is based on the true story that inspired the 1998 book of the same name by Lee Strobel. The film stars Mike Vogel, Erika Christensen, Faye Dunaway and Robert Forster and is about a journalist who looks to disprove his wife’s Christian faith. In 1980, atheist and award-winning investigative journalist Lee Strobel, using his journalistic and legal skills, attempts to disprove his wife Leslie’s newfound Christian faith. This causes problems within the marriage. After completing a thorough investigation for almost two years, Strobel finds the historical evidence for Jesus and a new faith in Christ.
